Winery Architecture One
Arquitectura vinícola
Barossa Valley Estate
Marananga, South Australia

The Barossa Valley Estate is a relatively new winery thus the interior design for the complex had to produce an image consistent with its status as a modern company while remaining sympathetic to its location in the heart of the Barossa Valley. This commission was focussed upon the administration building and the cellar door. These two buildings are located on either side of a central plaza, creating a village style atmosphere. The same palette of finishes and colours was used in both buildings to link them together. The colours were selected to reflect the purples and greens of the vines outside.Natural products were utilised in conjunction with more modern finishes, such as glass, stainless steel and polished concrete, to create a contemporary design for the facility. Cafe tables were made of recycled jarrah from century old whiskey barrels. The main structural feature in both buildings is a wall built of stone sourced from a nearby property. The juxtaposition of material types allowed Barossa Valley Estate to create a working environment that is in harmony with its surroundings and also reinforces its brand identity - sophistication and premium quality.
